The Tulane volleyball team, which is having one of its best seasons ever, is using Friday’s match against in-state rival Louisiana Tech to honor former Green Wave football player Devon Walker.
Walker was paralyzed on Sept. 8, 2012 after suffering a cervical spine fracture against Tulsa. Walker is currently in a wheelchair, mostly unable to move.
Two weeks after Walker’s injury, Tulane created and sold T-shirts bearing Walker’s No. 18 with the proceeds going to Walker’s medical fund.
This Friday, the volleyball team is asking fans to break out those shirts – or purchase new ones – and “White Out Devlin for Devon.” All proceeds from the game will go to Devon’s Den, a privately funded project providing services and materials for Walker’s care.
