Mack Brown not worried about Nick Saban taking his job

If Texas coach Mack Brown is worried about his future as the Longhorns’ coach, he sure isn’t showing it.

Since Brown was put on the hot seat in September, his team has won six straight games and leads the Big 12 standings. Still, some around the Texas program think Brown has worn out his welcome and are trying to get him ousted in favor of courting Alabama’s Nick Saban.

"Nick is a friend and he's done a tremendous job at Alabama," Brown said Friday morning on the Tim Brando Show. "Nick's not trying to get my job, I mean, I know Nick. So I don't have to worry about that. And if I do my job, there won't be any job to be open to get, so I think that's the other thing."

But to what extent does Brown have to do his job to keep it? Will a Big 12 title and a BCS bowl be enough?

Even if Brown was shown the door at the end of the season, the chances of the Longhorns landing Saban are slim. Saban has said multiple times he has no interest in leaving the Crimson Tide for the Longhorns.

Brown said he’s stopped paying attention to Texas media in the past couple months in order to keep distractions out. That’s probably a good idea.
