In Stanford’s upset of Oregon last Thursday, running back Tyler Gaffney played a huge role. The bruising 221-pound back carried the ball a whopping 45 times for 157 yards, helping the Cardinal dominate the time of possession en route to a 26-20 victory.
The senior has picked up where he left off against USC as evidenced by this ridiculous 35-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.
Gaffney takes the carry and appears to be bottled up by the Trojan front, but somehow escapes the grasp of Leonard Williams in the backfield, bounces the run outside, and outruns several defenders before a leap beyond the goal line for a score.
Despite Gaffney’s best efforts, the Cardinal are in a tough one with the Trojans. The game is tied at 17 late in the third quarter.
