Everett Golson has reapplied to Notre Dame.
Coach Brian Kelly announced that his former starting quarterback could be back in a couple weeks.
"That application process has been submitted from what I know of," Kelly said during his weekly news conference. "And decisions relative to admissions happen in middle of December."
If Golson were readmitted, he would be eligible to practice for a bowl game.
Golson was suspended from school prior to the fall semester for what he told Sports Illustrated was cheating on a final exam last spring. However, Golson has always maintained that his goal was to come back to Notre Dame.
He spent the fall training in suburban Chicago and then moved to San Diego to work with notable quarterbacking coach George Whitfield, who is best known for his work with Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel.
According to CBSSports.com, Golson spent between $7,500-$8,000 for lodging and Whitfield’s fees for two months in Southern California.
"At this point, I don't know if it's politically correct to say it like this, but it's a business decision for me," Golson told Bruce Feldman. "I'm hoping that it'll pay off in the future."
Golson started 11 games for the Irish last season and helped lead them to an undefeated regular season. He started the national championship game against Alabama.
