For Saturday’s SEC showdown with LSU, Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin gave his team a little surprise.
Sumlin unveiled brand new gray alternate uniforms with the A&M Lone Star logo on the back neck and hip of the uniform, as well as on the slick maroon helmet, which fades to black.
These new uniforms include Adidas’ “TECHFIT ShockWeb technology,” which is designed to “keep players fast, cool and mobile onfield” while “maximizing compression zones across the chest and sides that provide a tight fit with enhanced range of motion.”

I don’t know if any of that uniform “technology” actually works, but what I do know is that these jerseys are pretty sharp. I normally consider myself to be a traditionalist when it comes to uniforms, but once in a while something will catch my eye. This look, especially the helmets, are pretty cool.
The Aggies face a tough task in Baton Rouge and whether these uniforms give the team a bit of a boost remains to be seen, but the players certainly like them.
