Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray suffered a torn ACL during Saturday’s game against Kentucky and will have surgery on Tuesday.

The injury ends his Georgia career on senior day.

The injury occurred late in the second quarter with the Bulldogs facing third-and-goal at the Wildcats' 8-yard line. Murray was hit during what would ultimately be an interception and stayed on the ground.

He looked over at trainers running toward him and shook his head. He was almost immediately helped up and carried off the field and toward the locker room. He left the stadium in an ambulance.

Murray could have left school last year, but decided to come back for his senior season and a chance to win an SEC title. The Bulldogs, who have dealt with multiple injuries this season, won’t win any titles, but Murray did become the SEC’s all-time leader in passing yards, total offense and touchdown passes. This year he had thrown for 3,075 yards, 26 touchdowns and nine interceptions, surpassing 3,000 passing yards for the fourth consecutive season.

Redshirt junior Hutson Mason will start the Nov. 30 game against Georgia Tech, the Bulldogs regular season finale. It snaps a streak of 52 consecutive games started by Murray.
