A member of the Illinois football staff has been charged after allegedly pointing an unloaded gun at other members of the staff in a vehicle.
Matt Sinclair, who played at Illinois from 2001-2004, was arraigned on Monday with on two counts of an unlawful use of a weapon. Both are felony charges.
Per the Associated Press, Champaign County State Attorney Julia Rietz said "someone called police to report a driver pointing a gun out of a truck on Interstate 74 in eastern Illinois." He was arrested after Illinois' win against Purdue on Saturday.
According to police, Sinclair said he pointed the gun as a joke.
The win against Purdue was the first win in 21 Big 10 games for the Illini, who are 4-7 this season.
