LSU quarterback Zach Mettenberger was forced to leave Friday’s game against Arkansas after suffering what appeared to be an injury to his left knee.
He spent the postgame celebration of the 31-27 victory crying while supporting himself with crutches.
Midway through the fourth quarter, Mettenberger dropped back to pass and was hit low by Arkansas defensive tackle Byran Jones.
Receiver Jarvis Landry actually made a spectacular catch on the rushed throw, but Mettenberger writhing around on the ground in pain overshadowed it.
Trainers examined Mettenberger’s knee and the senior, who was playing in his final home game, did not return. Anthony Jennings took over and rallied the Tigers from a six-point deficit.
