Kabam Field sounds like it's straight out of NFL Blitz. So is it fitting that Kabam is the name of a video game company?
The field at Cal's Memorial Stadium is going to be known as Kabam Field for the next 15 years. Per the New York Times, it's a deal worth $18 million.
Kabam is a maker of role playing games like The Hobbit and Edgeworld. Sadly, not NFL Blitz. Will this mean we'll have characters from the games leading the Cal team on the field before every football game? That'd be weird. And we're all for more goofiness in college football.
Cal was 1-11 last year, so maybe some RPG game techniques are needed for improvement? Swords? Shields? Anything?
Three of the four co-founders of the company are Cal alums.
