Duke’s David Cutcliffe named Walter Camp Coach of the Year

Is this the first of many national coaching awards for David Cutcliffe?

The Duke coach was named the Walter Camp Coach of the Year on Thursday after his Blue Devils won the ACC Coastal Division and got the first 10 win season in school history.

Duke plays Florida State in Saturday's ACC Championship game. A Florida State team that will have quarterback and Heisman favorite Jameis Winston after Florida State Attorney Willie Meggs announced that Winston would not be charged in the sexual assault case that he had been named in.

Cutcliffe became the head coach of the Blue Devils in 2008 after he was the head coach at Mississippi from 1999-2004. He was the offensive coordinator at Tennessee immediately prior to joining Duke.

The Walter Camp award is voted on by the coaches and SIDs of all the FBS level schools. Notre Dame's Brian Kelly won the award last season.

To reach the ACC title game, Duke had to beat in-state rival North Carolina on the road in the final game of the regular season.
