Nebraska athletic director Shawn Eichorst has refuted the report that a member of the athletic department reached out to the attorney of former Texas coach Mack Brown to gauge his interested in coaching the Huskers.
Eichorst sent the Omaha World-Herald a text that said: “Deny!” Eichorst offered no other comment on the matter.
Austin American-Statesman columnist Kirk Bohls tweeted Sunday evening that Brown’s attorney, Joe Jamail, said he received a call from someone representing Nebraska.
Joe Jamail said he got a call from someone saying he represented Nebraska seeking Mack's interest. "He's not going to Nebraska," JJ said.

Eichorst’s denial makes sense considering Nebraska currently has a coach – Bo Pelini. And while Pelini has been embattled all season, Eichorst gave him a vote of confidence after Pelini angrily responded to questions about his future.
"They want to fire me, go ahead," Pelini said on Nov. 29. "I believe in what I've done. I don't apologize for what I've done. I don't apologize to you. I don't apologize to anybody."
Pelini is 57-24 since coming to Nebraska in 2008. After winning nine or 10 games each of his first five seasons, the Huskers are 8-4 heading into its bowl game.
Pelini also came under fire for blasting his fans during what he thought was a candid conversation with the team’s play-by-play announcer. The audio, which was from last year, was taped and leaked earlier this year.
Brown announced he was leaving Texas on Saturday following 16 seasons with the program. Brown will coach the Valero Alamo Bowl against Oregon on Dec. 30.
