For this year’s Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Ariz, both Central Florida and Baylor were both allotted 17,500 tickets each for their respective fans. Baylor reportedly returned 5,000 of those tickets while UCF reportedly returned 10,000.

Each school is responsible for the cost of the unsold tickets, but fortunately for UCF, the Knights will get some help from the American Athletic Conference according to the Orlando Sentinel.

“It’s been reported and it is accurate that we are going to help teams out with tickets,” AAC commissioner Mike Aresco said.

Aresco didn’t divulge any financial specifics, but said the league would definitely help.

“We’re going to help out and there are ways that we can deal with this,” Aresco said.

Had UCF played in the Sugar or Orange Bowls, Aresco believes the number of tickets sold would have been higher. Nonetheless, UCF officials are “thrilled” to be playing in the Fiesta Bowl and Aresco called it a rewarding and gratifying experience.

“UCF joined this league wth expectations that they would better their situation and it has proven out for them,” Aresco said.
