Reports continue to circulate that Penn State will hire Miami head coach Al Golden to replace Bill O’Brien in Happy Valley, but Miami’s athletic director told the South Florida Sun Sentinel that he believes Golden will stay at Miami.
“Al and I are in regular communication,” athletic director Blake James told the Sun-Sentinel via text message. “He is our football coach and I believe he will be our coach going forward.”
ESPN reported that Penn State would meet with Golden Saturday, but there is still no official word if Golden will head to Penn State, his alma mater.

Other reported candidates for the Penn State job include Vanderbilt’s James Franklin and Mike Munchak, a Penn State grad who was fired by the Tennessee Titans on Saturday.
Penn State athletic director David Joyner said Thursday that he hoped to complete the coaching search in a matter of days, not weeks, and it looks like the Penn State search committee is following through with that claim.
