Louisville’s Lorenzo Mauldin said Charlie Strong told him that he was staying

Misdirection in coaching searches is as common as misdirection on an Auburn running play, though it can still sting if it happens to you.

Louisville defensive end Lorenzo Mauldin tweeted Sunday morning that Charlie Strong had told him that he was staying at Louisville. Strong, a top target of Texas, will be the Longhorns' new coach.

On Saturday, when Strong's deal was being finalized, safety Calvin Pryor wanted the players to have the credit for Louisville's recent success. In the past two seasons, Louisville has gone 23-3 and in four seasons at the school Strong went 37-15.

Louisville is holding a player meeting on Sunday evening, as players were spread out over the break between the bowl game win over Miami and the start of classes in the spring semester.

Losing a coach is tough, especially when you're finding out over reports while on break. We can't blame Mauldin and Pryor for being frustrated in the slightest. Unfortunately, it's how coaching searches go. It's kind of like the recruiting process, just with considerably older men and millions of dollars.
