Al Golden is out of the running for the Penn State job.
The Miami coach was rumored as one of the Nittany Lions' top targets, but he released a statement through Miami on Sunday saying that he was not a candidate for another position.
"There has been much speculation concerning my future at the University of Miami," Golden said. "While I am flattered that our progress at The U during an extremely difficult period of time is recognized, I am also appreciative of just what we have here at UM and I am not a candidate for another position.
"We are eager to welcome our student athletes back to campus next week and visit with prospective student-athletes and their families beginning January 15."
So, who's next up for Penn State? Mike Munchak, a Penn State alum, is reportedly scheduled for an interview with the school. Munchak was fired on Saturday as coach of the Tennessee Titans. Munchak spent 31 seasons with the organization before he was fired.
Vanderbilt coach James Franklin is also a reported target of the Nittany Lions. Franklin's Commodores squandered a 24-0 lead to Houston on Saturday but held on to win 41-24 in the BBVA Compass Bowl.
