In August, Kiehl Frazier was competing to be Auburn's starting quarterback. However, he changed positions before the season began and Nick Marshall became Auburn's starting quarterback.
Now, Frazier is transferring for the opportunity to play quarterback again.
Frazier was the starting quarterback as the 2012 season began. However, he only started the first five games as Auburn struggled to a 3-9 record in Gene Chizik's final season. He completed the year 62-116 passing for 753 yards, two touchdowns and eight interceptions.
Under new coach Gus Malzahn, Frazier was in a three-way battle with Marshall and Jeremy Johnson to start at quarterback. When Frazier saw that his opportunity to play significant minutes wasn't going to come at quarterback, he moved to safety.
It was the opposite path that Marshall took. After playing quarterback in high school, Marshall spent his freshman season as a defensive back at Georgia. He was dismissed from the program in January 2012 and after a year playing at a community college, led Auburn to a 12-2 season and an appearance in the BCS Championship Game.
However, Frazier's position switch didn't last long. He was back on offense shortly after the season began, though he played sparingly. He had 10 carries for 34 yards and as a receiver didn't have any catches. With Marshall entrenched as the starting quarterback for his senior season, an opportunity for Frazier to start wasn't going to happen in 2014.
Texas A&M's Sebastian LaRue also announced his intention to transfer on Friday. A four-star receiver in the class of 2013, LaRue wants to transfer closer to his hometown of Santa Monica, Ca.
