After 38 years as a coach, including 21 seasons in three stints at the University of Oregon, Oregon defensive coordinator Nick Aliotti retired after the Ducks knocked off Texas in the Alamo Bowl.
During one of the final practices leading up to the bowl game, Aliotti was mic’d up and followed around by cameras. Aliotti showed off his fun, energetic coaching style and even showed off his dance moves before gathering his team to emotionally announce his retirement.
He, of course, wanted to keep the focus on beating Texas, but it had to be a bittersweet moment for Aliotti.
Aliotti went out with a bang as his defensive scored two touchdowns in a 30-7 win over Texas.
Oregon announced earlier in the week that linebackers coach Don Pellum would be promoted to defensive coordinator, replacing Aliotti.
