Former Alabama backup quarterback Luke Del Rio has found a new home at Oregon State.

Coach Mike Riley announced Saturday that Del Rio had signed a financial aid agreement with the Beavers.

Del Rio, who is the son of Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio, walked on at Alabama despite receiving several scholarship offers out of high school. However, he saw no playing time with the Crimson Tide and last week announced his intention to transfer. Had he stayed at Alabama, though, he would have been one of the top candidates to replace former Tide starter AJ McCarron who exhausted his eligibility.

Del Rio will have to sit out 2014 per NCAA transfer rules, but will have three years of eligibility starting in 2015.

Del Rio is the second Alabama player to announce his transfer from the program. Running back Alvin Kamara announced via Twitter Friday evening that he also was leaving the program. Kamara had been suspended twice during his first season with the Tide and was not with the team at the Sugar Bowl.

However, Kamara stressed on Twitter that his transfer was not because of “behavioral issues,” but did not announce where he was going.
