Nebraska defensive lineman Avery Moss has been banned from campus for one year stemming from a public indecency incident in 2012.

Moss, who lived off-campus, was originally banned from the residence halls last fall. However, in December, he entered a residency hall thinking his ban had been lifted following the fall semester. But school officials said the ban had not been lifted and extended the ban to the entire campus.

University spokesman Steve Smith told the AP Moss had been banned from residence halls through at least Dec. 31.

The AP, citing a police report, said in December 2012, a female student said a man exposed himself twice to her while she was working at a campus convenience store. She identified Moss after seeing his picture.

Moss pleaded no contest to the public indecency charge Monday and will be sentenced on March 28.

Moss, who is from Tempe, Ariz., told the AP he would like to re-enroll at Nebraska in 2015 to finish his degree in psychology and continue playing football. He said he’d use the next year to go to counseling.

Moss was in line to challenge for a starting position this spring on a defensive line that returns just one fulltime starter. He started three games and played in nine last season, but did not travel to the Gator Bowl in December. He had 36 tackles, 4.5 sacks and returned an interception 25 yards for a touchdown.
