Georgia Tech penalized itself 12 minutes of practice time due to an NCAA violation

Prior to last season, Georgia Tech produced an online video series titled “The Process” that showcased the team’s preparation for the 2013 campaign, and according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, a part of one of the videos showcased an NCAA violation.

One of the episodes captured the team’s summer workouts, and in it, strength coach John Sisk was addressing the team before the workout and Sisk “threatened consequences” if any players showed up to the workouts late.

Summer workouts are supposed to be voluntary, so as the AJC’s Ken Suguira described, “by definition a player shouldn’t face discipline for being late.” Because of this, Tech self-administered punishment that included shortening an August practice by a whopping 12 minutes.

Good work, NCAA!
