Alabama strengthened its top-rated recruiting class even more on Wednesday, securing the commitment of five-star cornerback Marlon Humphrey. Humphrey, Rivals’ No. 9 ranked player in the Class of 2014, announced his decision to play for Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide on Twitter.

It was fun getting a chance to know some of these coaches from schools all around...but I'm just happy it's all over — Fruit PUNCH (@marlon_humphrey) January 29, 2014
The standout from Hoover (Ala.) High will be following in his father’s footsteps in Tuscaloosa. Bobby Humphrey was an All-American running back at Alabama in 1986 and 1987 before a five-year NFL career with the Denver Broncos and Miami Dolphins.
According to Rivals, the 6-foot-1, 175-pound Humphrey is the top-ranked player in Alabama and the second-ranked defensive back in the nation. He also considered Florida State, Mississippi State and UCLA, among others.
As a senior at Hoover, Humphrey helped lead his team to a class 6A state championship.
Humphrey’s commitment gives the Crimson Tide 25 verbal commitments for the 2014 class and five five-stars. With a week remaining before national signing day, the Crimson Tide appear to be a lock to have the top-ranked class in the nation for the fourth consecutive year.
