College football programs have stepped up their games in the social media department over the past few years. This is more evident than ever on national signing day when schools often release videos and highlight packages of each prospect that signs. USC is one of these schools.
A video posted on the USC athletics Instagram account showed the name of USC recruit Lamont Simmons being added to a board of those who have sent in their letters of intent but in the background you can hear a coach make an offhand remark about another recruit – Tennessee pledge Jalen Hurd.
In the video, which was later deleted, the coach (who some believe to be USC receivers coach and former Tennessee quarterback) Tee Martin calls Hurd “so soft and terrible.” Despite USC deleting the video, someone was crafty enough to preserve the video and post it on YouTube.
After the video spread around social media on Monday, USC did some damage control and deleted the video from their account and issued an apology on Twitter.

I think it’s safe to say that USC’s social media people will be more careful before posting things in the future.
