Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller will undergo minor surgery on his throwing shoulder.
According to the website Eleven Warriors, Miller injured his shoulder on the fifth play of the Orange Bowl game against Clemson when he was sacked by Vic Beasley. Miller was sacked five times in the game and took several other hits, which he said affected his game.
“I think it just affected my running," Miller said after the Buckeyes' 40-35 loss to Clemson. "Throwing-wise, it was cool. I don't know what happened. I landed on my elbow, but it shot right up to my shoulder. It was hurting real bad."
The website said it didn’t think the surgery would affect Miller’s status for the 2014 or even spring football, which is scheduled for March 4.
With Kenny Guiton gone, the Buckeyes don’t have the stable backup they once had. Going into spring, sophomore Cardale Jones, who has some experience, will be the top candidate to back up Miller.
