The NFL Combine gives prospects the opportunity to showcase some of the intangibles that make football players some of the top athletes in the world. One of these intangibles is speed, and Adidas is offering $100,000 to the player who runs the fastest 40-yard dash.
The only catch is that the prospect has to wear the “adidas 5-star 40 cleat.” Presumably, most players want to wear cleats they are comfortable with and have been training in, so it will be interesting to see how many actually participate in the contest.

I don’t think we’ll see many linemen in the running to take home the cash, but it might provide some extra incentive for those prospects who have been known to register some top-end speed.
Texas product and current Buffalo Bills receiver Marquise Goodwin was the fastest in 2013 with a time of 4.27 seconds.
