According to court records obtained by the AP, the ex-girlfriend of former Michigan OT Taylor Lewan said Lewan punched an Ohio State fan after the Ohio State-Michigan game early Sunday, Dec. 1.
Lewan, who is charged with three misdemeanors, has maintained he was breaking up a fight.
"He knocked the guy to the ground and he punched him," she told police in a telephone interview Jan. 29, according to the report. She recalled hearing Lewan tell his mother "I knocked a guy out" the next morning while they were having breakfast.
She also said that "Taylor is lying" about what happened.
According to the police report, James Hughes, the man Lewan allegedly punched, Lewan and his ex-girlfriend Alexandra Dileo all said they had been drinking alcohol in the evening after Ohio State's one-point win over Michigan and that the incident was related to the rivalry.
Dileo is the sister of former Michigan WR Drew Dileo.
Lewan is charged with one count of aggravated assault and two counts of assault or battery. He was the No. 11 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft by the Tennessee Titans.
After a court appearance last week, Lewan's next scheduled hearing is June 16.
