Of all the letters that could have appeared on the license plate of a University of Alabama fan, these have to be some of the worst.
This license plate, tweeted by Will Collier, was found today in Shelby County, Ala., and while the initial thinking was there were 998 more unlucky Alabama fans with the first name of Auburn's Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback strapped to the back of their cars, that might not be the case.
After an hour of calling about 10 different numbers throughout the Alabama Department of Motor Vehicles, I finally got in touch with a nice woman in the licensing department in Shelby County (the Columbiana office, I believe) and she explained that the letters and numbers on the University of Alabama plates are random unless they are personalized.
That's right, three random letters, three random numbers and one very unlucky Alabama fan. Of course, she could be wrong and CAM000 through CAM999 (sans CAM202) could still be out there for the taking. Or an Auburn fan DMV worker could have the plates stockpiled in order just out of spite.
And even if it is random there is still the possibility of getting something as bad as "CAM" like "LES" or "AUB" or "COI."
