Rutgers is very jazzed about its first Big Ten home game and its fans are expressing their joy in some interesting ways.
The Scarlet Knights hosted Penn State on Saturday. The most, uh, prolific fan was a shirtless man with a cowboy hat. He spelled out "Hello Big Ten" on his chest in tan lines.
He also had the tan lines on his back spelling out "Welcome to Rutgers."
How long do you think it took to spell that out? And do you think someone helped him? Otherwise he's doing it upside down or in the mirror. (We're also not going to rule out the possibility that this isn't his first time embarking on this type of endeavor.)
He wasn't the only one in being creative. The actions from Rutgers fans make sense; the school wants to establish a rivalry with Penn State, located the closest Big Ten state to New Jersey. There are 15 New Jersey players on Penn State's roster, so this sign addressed that fact.
At least the premise of that sign made sense. This one, we're not sure we understand. It may work as a general platitude if Penn State coach James Franklin was running for office, however.
Enjoy the new conference honeymoon, Rutgers fans. You never know when it could come to an end, though judging by the way the conference has looked so far, maybe the Scarlet Knights have a shot after all?
