Virginia wore throwback uniforms last weekend against Kent State. This weekend, the Cavs will go with a completely new combination when they take on Pitt in a 7:30 p.m. game at home.
According to a release from UVA, the Cavs will wear white jerseys and white pants along with new “carbon fiber weave” helmets.
It’s a sharp look.
The team got its first look at the new lids during Thursday morning’s practice. Here's a full gallery of the helmets from Virginia Football's Facebook page.
“We love ‘em,” junior defensive end Eli Harold said. “It’s basically a dream come true. We’ve never really had the opportunity to do something like this, and we’ve always been wanting to, so we finally get the chance.”
The visiting team ordinarily wears white jerseys, but Pitt accommodated Virginia’s request to wear white. Additionally, Virginia will wear “pink wristbands, socks and gloves” for Breast Cancer Awareness month.
“It makes it a very special occasion,” Harold said. “I like it. It’s something different.”
Virginia and Pitt, ACC Coastal Division foes, are both 3-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
