President Obama's final stop out on the campaign trail Tuesday landed him in Boulder, Colo., where he was met with the nervous ramblings of Colorado coach Jon Embree.
Embree and Colorado basketball assistant Jean Prioleau were two of the lucky few who got to greet and shake hands with the President as he disembarked Air Force One. After taking a couple seconds with Prioleau and remarking about how Colorado beat his brother-in-law, Oregon State coach Craig Robinson, the President got to Embree, who loudly blurted out his name and frantically tried to respond to the President's greetings soaking up as much time with the world's most powerful leader as he possibly could.
"How they lookin' this year?" the President asked.
"We'll be better, we'll be better, we'll be better," Embree said as if trying to convince himself.
At this point the President has already walked away and engaged four other people in typical Presidential fashion, but Embree's trying to squeeze every drop out of the moment.
I don't blame Embree for being nervous, giddy or any of the other emotions he was clearly feeling during his 3-second affair with the President. I think when you're in the presence of the leader of the free world that's totally normal.
And being a coach at Colorado apparently has its perks. After greeting the President, Embree and assistant coaches Jashon Sykes and Eric Bieniemy took a picture on Air Force One.
I would say this is the best day for Colorado football in quite some time.
