"He was approached, I was approached, but he's not interested in coaching anywhere right now," Jamail told the Austin American-Statesman about SMU's interest. "He likes what he's doing. He misses it, frankly, but he loves being on ESPN."

Jamail said Brown already had been offered several jobs and turned them down.

“For comparable pay to what he was making and more," Jamail said.

Brown was one of the nation’s highest paid coaches at $5.4 million per year while at Texas.

On Sept. 29, Brown told ESPN.com no schools had contacted him and that he was not interested in talking with any other schools until December. Brown, 63, is currently working as a college football analyst with ESPN.

"I'm enjoying working in television at ESPN," Brown said. "I've made a conscious decision to concentrate on this through the fall. I jumped into this [job at ESPN] with both feet. [His wife] Sally and I both made a commitment to this.

"I will not make any decisions about my future until December, after I talk with my bosses at ESPN and see if they're happy with me, and then when I can evaluate my first year on television.”

Brown was 244-122-1 in 30 seasons as a college coach and spent the last 16 at Texas. He won a national championship in 2005 and was runner-up in 2010.
