Central Michigan is now looking for a new coach.

Dan Enos, the Chippewas' head coach for the past five seasons, was announced as Arkansas' new offensive coordinator on Thursday.

“We are thrilled to have Coach Enos joining us in Fayetteville,” Arkansas coach Bret Bielema said in a statement. “Dan is a great fit for our program. He runs a pro-style offense and brings expertise at the quarterback position as both a player and coach. We played against each other in college and he was a very intelligent and talented quarterback who showed great toughness and leadership. He has an outstanding reputation and will be a tremendous asset for Razorback football.”

Enos compiled a 26-36 record in his five seasons at CMU. His team finished 7-6 in 2014 after a crazy near-comeback against Western Kentucky in the Bahamas Bowl. His team stormed back from a 49-14 deficit, only to lose after a failed two-point conversion following a miraculous multi-lateral touchdown pass.

According to USA Today's coaching salary database, Enos made $360,000 at Central Michigan. His salary at Arkansas is likely considerably higher than that.

“I want to thank Bret for this wonderful opportunity to be part of something special at the University of Arkansas,” Enos said. “The challenge of winning a championship in the SEC and developing young men at the highest level of college football is very attractive. Bret and I share many of the same philosophies and I’m excited to open the next chapter of my coaching career down in Fayetteville.”

Arkansas was looking for an offensive coordinator after coordinator Jim Chaney left to become Pitt's offensive coordinator. In a release confirming Enos' departure, CMU didn't name an interim coach.

“I thank Dan Enos for his hard work and effort the past five years in building a strong football program here at Central Michigan University,” CMU athletic director Dave Heeke said. “We will move quickly and decisively in naming a new coach. This is an extraordinary opportunity for a leader who seeks a team that’s strong on the field and in the classroom. CMU also is an ideal setting for someone who celebrates an engaged and loyal alumni fan base.

“This is a storied program that is committed to success and competing for championships. We’ve built a true championship culture with our football team and throughout CMU Athletics, and we look forward to welcoming our next great coach.”
