Florida may have missed out on a few other prospects on signing day, but it kept two of Florida's top talents in their home state.
First, Martez Ivey, the Rivals five-star offensive tackle from Apopka, Fla., signed his National Letter of Intent to play for coach Jim McElwain, choosing the Gators over Auburn, his only other finalist.
The 6-foot-6, 290-pound Ivey is rated as the best tackle and the fourth-best player overall in the country and the second-best player from Florida. Ivey is one of six offensive lineman to join Florida’s 2015 staff, joining Tyler Jordan, Fred Johnson, Richerd Desir-Jones, Nick Buchanan and Brandon Sandifer, all of whom are Rivals three-star recruits.
With the Gators’ lack of depth along the line, Ivey has a chance to make an impact early in his collegiate career.
Additionally, Rivals five-star defensive end CeCe Jefferson also announced his intention to sign with Florida. Jefferson is the No. 20 overall prospect in the country and is considered to be the second-best strongside defensive end by Rivals.com.
Jefferson also considered Alabama, Ole Miss and Auburn, but he decided to take his talents to Gainesville.
The addition of the two five-star recruits gives a huge boost to Florida's class, which jumped nearly 30 spots to No. 25 in Rivals' team rankings.
