Chris Farley makes his Wisconsin Football recruiting pitch as Matt Foley (Video)

A week after Saturday Night Live aired its 40th anniversary special, Wisconsin football posted a video of one of SNL’s most popular characters, motivation speaker Matt Foley, giving a recruiting pitch for the Badgers.

Foley was played by the late, great Chris Farley, a native of Madison, Wisconsin. Farley graduated from Marquette, but based on this video, he looked to be a big Badgers football fan as well.

His pitch is pretty convincing.

“If you don’t go to the University of Wisconsin, you’re gonna end up eating government cheese and living in a van down by the river!” Farley exclaimed. 

If I was shown that clip on a recruiting visit to UW in the 90’s, I may have committed on the spot. Government cheese is no fun.
