Michigan starting center Graham Glasgow was suspended for two weeks after violating his probation last month. The senior is back on the field with the program – for now. According to head coach Jim Harbaugh, it’s up to Glasgow to make sure it stays that way.
“The legal system has got as much hanging over his head as anybody else could possibly put on him,” Harbaugh said per Mlive.com. “There’s nothing more than I, or the football program or the university could have on Graham right now than what (the courts) have.”
Glasgow was arrested for drunk driving in March 2014 and was put on a year’s probation after pleading guilty last June. He violated the terms of his probation when he failed a breathalyzer test last month. His probation, in which he cannot consume alcohol, was extended through January 2016 and he’s now monitored “multiple times a day.”
“This is somebody who is taking a breathalyzer every morning and every night. He’s got to be clean, 100 percent clean, not a drop of alcohol,” Harbaugh said. “And he’ll either do it, or he won’t. I believe in him, I believe he will. But we’ll all know, there will be no secrets on that. Whether he does it or he doesn’t, it’ll be for public consumption.”
The 6-foot-6, 303-pound Glasgow started 11 games for the Wolverines at guard last season and also started 13 games at center and guard in 2013.
With Jack Miller, last season’s starting center, opting not to return for a fifth year, Glasgow moved back to the top of the depth chart at center – where he started for the team’s spring game on Saturday.
