After one year of college football, Wake Forest running back Tyler Henderson announced his decision to retire due to health concerns.
Henderson suffered a concussion midway through his true freshman season with the Demon Deacons and says he has yet to fully recover.
“I’ve had a concussion for almost 7 months now, and after lots of praying and talking to numerous doctors and loved ones, I have decided to retire from the game I love and that brings me so much joy,” Henderson wrote on Instagram. “It is such a hard thing to do, but it’s what’s best for my future and my health. I hate that my football career had to end like this and this soon, but I know and I trust God has a bigger plan for me.”
The 5-foot-9, 180-pound Henderson appeared in six games for the Demon Deacons and had six yards rushing on three attempts. He also returned nine kicks for a total of 183 yards, an average of 20.3 yards per attempt.
According to Blogger So Dear, Henderson will remain with the program as a student assistant.
