A new conference means new uniforms for Texas A&M.
Adidas rolled out some snazzy new Lone Star TECHFIT uniforms that were inspired by the uniforms Texas A&M teams used to wear in the 1970s.
According to A&M's website, "the Aggies' new look pays homage to the rich tradition of Texas A&M football and celebrates the bright future in College Station."
Unlike a lot of the new uniforms that have been unveiled by various teams this offseason, A&M stayed true to its modest maroon and white design. Adidas did add a couple stripes on the sleeves that lead into the long sleeves of the undershirt, which boasts A&M patented "12th Man" insignia. The pants also have stripes down the sides of the legs and I'm a fan of the A&M logo that incorporates the state of Texas. The undershirt has a similar logo.
However, unlike the uniforms from the 1970s, the Aggies will not exclusively use their white helme
The biggest change to the uniform is something most people won't notice on gameday — the technology. The uniforms are made with a cooling fabric and the weight of the jersey has been reduced by 30 percent. The way the jerseys are cut also helps with speed and agility.
Of course, the most glaring change to the jersey is the SEC logo on the shoulder.
As noted above, there's nothing flashy here and that's probably what makes these uniforms attractive. The Aggies might be moving to a new league, but that shouldn't change who they are.
