TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin is taking offseason training to a higher level.
Or at least a higher altitude.
Boykin, one of the preseason favorites for the Heisman Trophy, posted an Instagram video of himself driving while wearing a high-altitude training mask.
Now if that’s not commitment, not sure what is.
The mask actually simulates breathing at a higher altitude by reducing the air flow that comes through the breathing valves. That forces the wearer to take deeper breaths and use oxygen more efficiently. It also strengthens the diaphragm and increases endurance so that the wearer will be better trained to compete at sea level.
Of course, it’s supposed to be used during workouts. But hey, all that head-bobbing and shoulder dancing is kinda like a workout, right?
