A little more than a week after his arrest for aggravated robbery, Utah cornerback Dominique Hatfield has been dismissed from the program.
Utes head coach Kyle Whittingham announced the decision Friday morning.
“We have developed further concerns about Dominque Hatfield’s off-field behavior, and as a result, he has been dismissed from our program,” Whittingham said in a release.
Hatfield, who was suspended indefinitely earlier this week, was accused of robbing a man of $180 at knifepoint on June 30 and subsequently charged with aggravated robbery and theft of property.
The man had reportedly responded to an ad to purchase an Xbox. Hatfield was later arrested when the victim's wife set up another meeting to buy two cell phones, police said.
Hatfield has denied any involvement in the armed robbery.
A junior from Los Angeles, Hatfield was an expected starter in the secondary for the Utes in 2015. Hatfield, 20, registered 38 tackles, nine pass breakups and one interception in 10 stars as a sophomore in 2014.
He played wide receiver as a true freshman in 2013 and had four catches for 84 yards.
