Reavis, a potential starter for Virginia Tech at safety, is no longer enrolled at the school. According to the Roanoke Times, Reavis’ enrollment status changed “after the result of a student conduct hearing” Thursday.

Virginia Tech spokesman Mark Owczarski confirmed the news to the Times.

Reavis’ attorney, Jimmy Turk, said the result of the hearing is under appeal.

“Without discussing the details, there is an appeal process that we are going through at this point,” Turk told the Times. “I expect that process to maybe exhaust itself over the next week to 10 days.”

Turk said Reavis is not facing criminal charges, but declined to divulge the reason for the conduct hearing. Nonetheless, Reavis’ status with the football team is now up in the air.

From the Times:

An appeal of a student conduct decision may be filed only in the event of a denial of due process, significant and relevant new evidence or unduly harsh or arbitrary sanctions that are not consistent with conduct or case precedent.

A spokesman for Virginia Tech athletics would not say whether Reavis’ status with the team had changed.

The athletic department released this statement: “Inquiries relative to the status of ongoing student conduct matters are under purview of campus and not the Athletics Department.”

Reavis, a sophomore, was practicing with the first-team defense throughout spring practice and made nine tackles in the Hokies’ spring game. As a freshman in 2014, Reavis played in 12 games – mainly on special teams. He tallied eight tackles, a half a sack, a forced fumble and a blocked kick.

The 6-foot-1, 205-pound Reavis, a native of Chester, Va., was a four-star recruit in the 2014 class.
