After sharing the Big 12 title in 2014, TCU and Baylor are predicted to again finish atop the league standings – but one school has emerged as the clear favorite in the media’s eyes.
In the league’s media poll released Thursday, the Horned Frogs sit at the top with 32 of 42 first place votes. The other 10 first-place votes were awarded to Baylor, with Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas rounding out the top five.
The rest of the poll has West Virginia sixth, Kansas State seventh, Texas Tech eighth, Iowa State ninth and Kansas in last.
Here’s the breakdown of the voting:
Coming off a Peach Bowl victory, TCU returns 17 starters, including senior quarterback Trevone Boykin. Boykin was named the Preseason Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and is already considered a favorite for the Heisman Trophy. Boykin threw for 3,901 and 33 touchdowns while rushing for 642 yards and eight more scores in 2014 – his first season playing exclusively quarterback.
The Big 12 will hold its annual media days in Dallas on July 20-21.
