Most college football media days are predictable.
Coaches step to the podium or sit at a table and wax on about the strengths and weaknesses of their respective teams.
But every once in awhile, a coach drops a random gem that renders everything he said in the hours before totally moot.
On Monday, Kansas’ David Beaty was that coach.
Best nugget I've got from #Big12FB Media Days: David Beaty says his dad was one of the men around Lee Harvey Oswald when Oswald was shot.

OK, this isn’t the first time Beaty has mentioned this. A profile in the Kansas City Star last year, detailed Beaty’s Texas upbringing and his biological father was briefly mentioned.
Buford Beaty, was a Dallas police officer in the narcotics division. On the morning of Nov. 24, 1963, Buford was on duty at police headquarters when Jack Ruby stepped in front of a row of cameras and shot and killed Lee Harvey Oswald at close range. If you comb through photographs and television broadcasts from the day, Beaty says, you can see his father in the background.
Beaty was born seven years later and his father died when he was 5 years old.
It’s going to be tough for any other coach to top that one. Sadly, it might be the only interesting thing national outlets write about Kansas this year.
