One of the highest-rated members of Wisconsin’s 2015 recruiting class has reportedly been denied admission into the university.
According to BadgerBlitz.com, Jordan Stevenson won’t join the Badgers in the fall. Stevenson, a four-star running back from Dallas, Texas, announced the news on his Twitter account Thursday night, but did not offer specifics. However, a report from 247sports.com indicates that Stevenson was “denied admissions by the University of Wisconsin.”
“With all do respect my recruitment is official open to any Division One program for the 2015 season,” Stevenson said in a tweet that has since been deleted.
“#Badgernation Thanks for all the love also all the support through all I have been through. Much love,” Stevenson added in another tweet.
Despite his denied admission into the school, 247sports is reporting that Stevenson did meet the NCAA’s standards to qualify academically and is eligible to attend any other school once he officially receives his release from Wisconsin.
Wisconsin head coach Paul Chryst acknowledged last month that Stevenson was not yet on campus, but said he was expected to be with the team “for fall camp.”
Stevenson, who chose Wisconsin over offers from Alabama, Ohio State, Texas, UCLA and others, is rated by Rivals as the 27th-best running back in the country. According to BadgerBlitz.com, Stevenson rushed for more than 4,500 yards and 50 touchdowns combined in his junior and senior seasons at South Oak Cliff High School.
