Louisiana-Lafayette will have helmet decals to honor the victims in a movie theater shooting in Lafayette in July.
The "Lafayette Strong" decals feature the state of Louisiana and will be on the team's helmets throughout the entire season. 11 people were shot when a gunman entered a movie theater on July 23. Two people died, not including the shooter, John Russell Houser.

"I couldn’t be more proud of this community, I couldn’t be more proud to be a part of this community, because of the way this community has rallied in the last few weeks since the horrible tragedy,” ULL coach Mark Hudspeth said Wednesday via the Lafayette Advertiser.
“The community support and what I saw at Cajun Field, and now what I see driving home every day, with all the Lafayette Strong signs out in the community — it’s unbelievable."
The Acadiana flag will be inside of the state of Louisiana on the decal. The Acadiana region represents the French portion of Louisiana and the flag was designed 50 years ago by a professor at ULL.
Houser committed suicide after shooting the 11 victims. Houser had gone to a showing of "Trainwreck and sat through part of the film before he got up and started shooting. Mayci Breaux and Jillian Johnson were the two women he killed.
