Maryland took a big hit to its linebacker corps on Wednesday.
Terps head coach Randy Edsall announced that linebacker Abner Logan will miss the 2015 season after suffering a “non-contact ACL injury” during preseason camp.
Logan, a 6-foot-1, 242-pound junior, was expected to start at outside linebacker in the Terps’ new 4-3 defensive scheme this season.
Logan has appeared in 19 total games during his Maryland career, including three starts. The Cambridge, Mass., native was suspended for the first half of the 2014 season for violating team rules. He came back from his suspension and played in the Terps final seven games as a reserve and on special teams.
After redshirting his first season on campus in 2012, Logan played in 12 games in 2013, totaling 37 tackles – including 15 against Clemson.
Junior Brock Dean was listed as Logan’s backup on Maryland’s most-recent depth chart.
