Pitt RB James Conner leaves game with apparent knee injury

According to ESPN.com, Conner “winced and appeared to tweak his knee after being tackled” during the second quarter. After limping off the field under his own power, Conner was shown on the ESPN broadcast with an ice pack on his injured knee.

In the second half, Conner was seen on the Pitt sideline in street clothes.

The 6-foot-2, 240-pound junior rushed eight times for 77 yards and two touchdowns before injuring the knee. With Conner out, Pitt turned to sophomore Chris James at running back. 

As a sophomore in 2014, Conner rushed for 1,765 yards and 26 touchdowns on 5.9 yards per carry. 

According to Sam Werner of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Pitt won't address Conner's injury until head coach Pat Narduzzi speaks to the media after the game.
