Some Texas fans were inspired by the actions of some Miami fans on Friday night.
OK, the plans were long in the works before Friday we imagine. But a day after an anti-Al Golden banner appeared over Miami's game against Florida Atlantic, an anti-Steve Patterson banner appeared at Texas' game against Rice Saturday.
Patterson has come under fire for his practices as UT's athletic director. A report over the summer said he was had cut free meals for coaches and another said he had been souring donors with his actions.
Texas president Greg Fenves told the Austin American-Statesman earlier in the week he was "going through the issues" with Patterson, who has made numerous changes since replacing DeLoss Dodds as Texas' athletic director.
“I listen to everybody that calls me, whether it’s on athletics or statues,” he added during an hour-long session with members of the American-Statesman editorial board. “I listen to everybody who calls me. I’m respectful of their opinion. I don’t try to justify anything one way or the other. But when it comes to athletics, I say I’m fairly new to this, and I’m working well with Steve Patterson and we’re going through the issues.”
