The lawyer for suspended Rutgers wide receiver Leonte Carroo said his client never touched the alleged victim in an assault that happened after Rutgers' Week 2 game against Washington State.
Carroo has been charged with assault, along with his mother and girlfriend. The alleged victim in the incident – who was previously in a relationship with Carroo – has said she was slammed to the ground by Carroo.
The lawyer, William Fetky, said a friend of Carroo's will testify that he grabbed the woman's arm and pushed her to the ground. Fetky also claims that the woman who is the alleged victim is the one who started the incident. Carroo has been charged with assault and has pled not guilty. Fetky also said two cell phone videos will prove his statements.

"Everything indicates that she is the only one who should be charged in this," Fetky said.
Fetky said Carroo instead grabbed Maria Vega to get her out of the fight, and never touched anyone else. Vega, who has also been charged with assault in the incident, suffered a few scratches and bruises from the event, he said.
Vega has been identified as Carroo's girlfriend. The alleged victim has obtained a temporary restraining order against Carroo and is seeking a permanent one. She has said she temporarily blacked out as she was slammed to the ground and remembers being attacked by a woman with a traffic cone. The incident is still under investigation.
Carroo was suspended indefinitely from the football team following the incident and, per a spokesperson to NJ.com, is still a student at the school. He was an all-Big Ten selection in 2014.
