Cal coach Sonny Dykes said he no plans to look at other jobs should they come calling in the next couple months.

"This is where I want to be," Dykes told the San Jose Mercury News last week. "It's where I am. I came here and it's where I want to be."

The newspaper cited reports that Dykes was unhappy since he didn’t have a contract extension offer. It also noted that Dykes was frustrated by the tough academic standards at Cal and his $2 million paycheck, which was among the lowest in the Pac-12. Athletic director Mike Williams told the paper, "It's my intention to keep him here."

Cal defeated Oregon State 54-24 last Saturday to earn the Bears’ bowl eligibility for the first time since 2011. The win broke a four-game losing streak for Cal.

Dykes remarked that while the Bears are losing a lot of good players, which might include junior quarterback Jared Goff, he was excited about the future of the program.

"We're going to lose some good players (after this season), but we're going to replace them with some good players," he said. "Our young guys are good. We're recruiting well. I'm excited about the future."

Both ESPN and Gridironnow reported that Dykes would be willing to take a job that’s perhaps considered a step lower than Cal if that job was in his home state of Texas.

Williams told the Mercury News that discussions with Dykes’ representative were ongoing and that he expected the coach to be in Berkeley next season.
