Northwestern cornerback Nick VanHoose suffered a finger injury during bowl practice on Sunday and will miss the Outback Bowl against Tennessee on Jan. 1.
"I'm pretty sure it got caught in a jersey, and just snapped off," VanHoose, a senior, told Inside NU of the finger tendon.
VanHoose, Northwestern’s top cornerback, was named All-Big Ten Second Team after grabbing three interceptions, including one he returned for a touchdown, and notching 12 pass breakups. He also had 41 tackles, one tackle for loss and a forced fumble.
Northwestern will look to Keith Watkins and Marcus McShepard to fill VanHoose’s void. Kyle Queiro, who is recovering from a broken arm, also might be in the mix.
