Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott was involved in a minor-injury car crash prior to leaving for Arizona with the rest of his team, Columbus police told multiple outlets.
Elliott was cited for driving under suspension, driving without a license and failure to control following the accident.
“He was the at-fault driver,” said Denise Alex-Bouzounis, a division spokeswoman told the Columbus Dispatch.
Police said Elliott told them he hit a puddle, hydroplaned and then collided with a car carrying two other people. One of those people sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Elliott was not injured.
Elliott is expected to be available for Friday’s Fiesta Bowl game against Notre Dame.
